Elizabeth "Beth" Reese is president of Nicor Gas, the largest natural gas distributor in Illinois and senior vice president for AGL Resources, a national leader in the energy sector. Reese is responsible for ensuring that natural gas – an American, abundant, affordable and clean energy source – safely and reliably reaches more than 2.2 million homes and businesses in 656 northern Illinois communities. Since joining AGL Resources in 2000, Reese has focused her business acumen on growing the company and delivering an exceptional customer experience to natural gas consumers. She has served as vice president of business innovation, customer service and finance and as controller. Prior to joining AGL Resources, she was a senior manager for the worldwide accounting and consulting firm of Deloitte LLP. Reese is the first woman to serve as president of Nicor Gas and was the first chair of AGL Resources’ LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Acceptance, Diversity) Council. A champion for diversity-related initiatives, Reese is a member of The Chicago Network and the Committee of 200. She is on the board of directors for the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and the board of trustees for The Field Museum of Natural History and she is passionate about charitable causes that make a positive impact on communities in Illinois. In addition to her philanthropic work, Reese proudly supports community and economic development initiatives as treasurer of The Economic Club of Chicago, as a member of the board of directors for the Center for Energy Workforce Development and as a member of The Commercial Club of Chicago. Reese is a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College and the University of Georgia. She lives in Naperville with her husband and daughter.
