Warren Ribley

Warren Ribley was appointed as the Executive Director of the Illinois Medical District Commission (IMDC) on April 1, 2012. Ribley brings to the post more than 30 years of economic development and private sector experience and is charged with determining the strategic direction of IMDC, which is the country’s largest urban medical district. In his most recent position, as Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), Ribley helped build the state’s green economy, increased investments in entrepreneurs and innovation, built up disadvantaged communities and developed the state’s workforce to meet the challenges of the 21st century economy, including finding opportunities in healthcare and healthcare technology. In just three years, he prioritized the state's economic development efforts which resulted in Illinois creating more jobs than any other Midwestern state coming out of the global recession by investing in more than 100 businesses to create and retain jobs. Ribley has more than 25 years of professional experience in state government and eight years in the private sector, focusing on financial services. Ribley has a developed a reputation for creating successful programs which strengthen the Illinois economy.
