Lisa Bonnett was appointed Director of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency by Governor Pat Quinn, effective March 18, 2013, after previously serving in other key leadership positions at the Agency, including Interim Director, Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer. Director Bonnett has initiated numerous improvements at the Agency, including streamlining permitting and modernizing other processes, increasing operating efficiencies and responsiveness and expanding communication and dialogue with all sectors of the state including community and environmental advocacy groups, local officials, business and industry and agriculture. She is dedicated to safeguarding the environment such as cleaning up Chicago area waterways, while also encouraging job creation and economic growth through such programs as Governor Quinn’s Clean Water Initiative. Director Bonnett earned MBA and BA degrees and is a lifelong resident of Illinois.
