Kurt A. Summers is a son of Chicago and a pragmatic problem solver who is passionate about serving the people of Chicago. A legacy of service is rooted in everything Kurt does. Before answering the call to serve as City Treasurer, Kurt was a Senior Vice President at Grosvenor Capital Management and a member of the Office of the Chairman. Prior to joining Grosvenor, Summers served as Chief of Staff to the Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and as the appointed Trustee for the Cook County Pension Fund. Kurt led the closure of a $487 million budget deficit while keeping the administration’s promise to rollback the county sales tax, saving taxpayers more than $400 million a year. He also helped pave the way for a more sustainable health and hospitals system Kurt’s first foray into public service was as an aide to Congressman Bobby Rush in 2000. A few years later, he was a James H. Dunn Fellow and aide to the Chief of Staff in the Illinois Governor’s Office. Kurt answered the call to serve as Chief of Staff for Chicago 2016, the city’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
